The Keeper of the Tartan

The St. Andrew-Caledonian Society of Calgary, Alberta is the owner and keeper of the Calgary Tartan.

We are a non-profit organization, formed in Calgary, Alberta Canada in 1884.Our focus, in addition to serving as the keeper of the Calgary tartan, is on the cultivation and fostering of an appreciation for Scottish culture activities, and the preservation of Scottish history and our contribution to Calgary and the surrounding area.

Society Activities

Our annual events, which are open to the public as well as Society members, include our Robbie Burns Night (Jan.), Tartan Day (April), our Bannockburn BBQ & AGM (June) and the St. Andrew’s Ball (Nov).

Membership in the society is open to anyone interested in learning more about, or participating in activities associated with Scottish culture. Free-to-member instruction and events are offered in bagpipes and drums, Scottish Country Dancing, Ceilidh Dancing, Gaelic language classes, Gaelic Choir and Gaelic Song Circle.
